OUR STORY

Cute Ghoul Gifts was started in 2023 by Sam in Leigh on Sea in Essex. There are a few core values that are the most important to us; accessibility, inclusivity, fairness and transparency. You can read a little more about those values and learn more about us below. 

 

When we started the store, we noticed there wasn't enough options out there for adaptable costume jewellery for people with accessibity needs, especially not options that were priced reasonably for everyone with eclectic, maximalist and alternative styles. We are proud that we offer completely free customization of all our products including offering different sizes of bracelets and necklaces, magnetic clasps and clip on options for all earrings.

At Cute Ghoul, we like to concentrate on fun designs that make us smile, and hopefully you too! The original concept for the store was to make jewellery with a cute and campy alternative twist, which is something we like to bear in mind with everything we make. As the store develops, we are enjoying creating pieces inspired by pop culture along with our permanent Pride and Horror themed (Ghoul) collections.

We started the shop on a shoestring and have learned a lot of lessons about running a small business along the way! We are over the moon that we have been able to develop it into something that brings joy to others. We will always try our hardest to keep our prices reasonable and will never try to overcharge our customers for our products. Everyone deserves a treat, and we believe you shouldn't have to pay a fortune for handmade eye-catching pieces.

We do everything possible to use superior materials for our jewellery and every piece is hand assembled and made to order, down to each individual chain. We are currently sourcing some components from different jewellery component suppliers where the charms/beads used on some of our pieces are made out of plastics, alloy/composite metals and wood, but our metal chains and earring hooks are stainless steel or silver. We always specify materials on our listings. In an ideal world we would have the equipment to make every single bead and charm from scratch ourselves, however we aren't there (just) yet! Cute Ghoul is a queer owned business and we like to offer striking and original jewellery for everyone. Every piece we make is designed to be gender neutral and we can often customize existing products to suit you. So if you would like jewellery for your specific identity and you don't see this listed online, reach out and we will see what we can create for you. We also only ever ship in plain packaging, so there are no identifiers on the packaging when shipping to you. If you have any concerns about shipping privately, feel free to drop us an email or dm on social media and we will do all we can to help.

In our future we are hoping to invest into equipment to make more styles of  jewellery and gifts as our little shop expands and hope to be able to offer international shipping soon. We hope to spend 2025 and beyond attending more Pride events, giving back and celebrating what makes our community unique.
